C programming is the basis for a lot of modern technology, even though it can seem hard. Systems that run. Devices that are built in. Even some parts of your web browser. It has a lot of power. And learning it well opens doors. Huge doors.
A lot of people started learning to code with C. It teaches self-control. It teaches how to be more productive. It shows you how the computer really works. No magic. Just reason. Let's get started. Your C Tutor will help you out.
Your first building blocks are variables and data types.
A variable is like a box. A place to keep data. There is a label on each box. A name. Like username or age. Easy.
But what kind of data goes in the box? What numbers? Letters? Full sentences? That's where types of data come in. int for numbers that are whole. float for numbers that have decimal points. char for one character.
Your C tutor will show you how. You say they are. You give things values. int score = 100; It's that easy. It's important to understand this. It's how you show data in your code.
Operators: Adding Up (and More!)
Computers are very good at math. And C has operators that do that. Plus (+). Take away (-). Multiplication (*). Division (/). It's just like math in school.
But C has more. ++ to add to. -- to decrease. % for the rest (very useful!). You have these tools. To change values. To do math.

Control Flow: How to Make Choices
There are many choices to make in life. So is code. "If this happens, do this." "Otherwise, do something else." This is how control flow works. The statement "if." The else statement.
if (temperature > 25) { // put on shorts } else { // put on pants }. Look! Very human. Very easy to understand. C lets your program respond to changes in the environment.
Then there are loops. "Do this over and over until..." for loops for a set number of times. while loops keep going as long as a condition is true. Your C tutor will show you when to use each one. It makes your code changeable. Strong.
Functions: Using Your Code Again
Think about having to write the same piece of code over and over. Boring! This is what functions do. A function is a piece of code. It does a certain job. You name it. You say it.
calculateArea(length, width); This is a function call. It takes in inputs. It does things. It might give back a result. It's like a small program inside your program.
Functions make things easier to use again. Write it down once. Use it over and over. It cleans up your code. More orderly. A good C Tutor stresses modular design. Functions are a big part of that.
Arrays: Groups of Data
Want to keep a list of grades? Or a range of temperatures? Arrays are helpful. They are groups of things. Of the same kind of data. Stored in memory in a row.

Ah, pointers. The well-known. The magical. People often get them wrong. But they are very important in C. A pointer is a type of variable. It has the address of a memory. Not a value. A place to live.
It's like a number for a house. It shows you where something is. Not what is in the house. int *p; makes a pointer to an integer. p = &myVariable; puts the address of myVariable into p.
Then, *p (dereferencing) shows you the value at that address. It lets you change data without directly changing it. It's how C gets things done quickly. And strength. Your C tutor will slowly and patiently explain the mysteries of pointers. The work is worth it. Really.
Strings: Working with Text
There is text everywhere. Names. Messages. Sentences. Strings in C are just arrays of characters. Ended with a special null character (�). This � tells the program where the string ends.
This makes a string: char name[] = "TutorMitra"; It's an array. An element is each character. Functions for manipulating strings, like strlen, strcpy, and strcat, are your friends. A part of the library that comes with it.
